Suárez Returns on June 20th for the NASCAR XFINITY Series Race at Chicagoland Speedway

Daniel Suarez

Joliet, Ill. – May 18, 2015 – NASCAR XFINITY Series Rookie of the Year candidate Daniel Suárez met some of his youngest fans on Monday, as he made a visit to Thomas Jefferson Elementary in Joliet. The students of the kindergarten through fifth grade school greeted the driver of the No. 18 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing with raucous chants of “Dan-iel!” and received a pleasant surprise for their efforts.

Suárez and Chicagoland Speedway provided nearly 500 race tickets on Monday, one for each student and a parent to take in Suárez’s XFINITY Series Race on Father’s Day Weekend. In addition to the tickets, Suárez also took time to provide bilingual answers to racing questions. Over 50% of the students in Thomas Jefferson Elementary’s district (Joliet Public Schools District 86) are Hispanic, and those present today were overjoyed with the opportunity to converse with a NASCAR driver while speaking Spanish.

Suárez also had to play the part of teacher, as a portion of his visit involved assisting the fourth and fifth grade classes with questions in their NASCAR Acceleration Nation notebooks. The notebooks are a part of an in-school Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) program, created together with Scholastic, and helped prepare the students for what they will see when attending their first race to watch Suárez compete.

Following the Thomas Jefferson Elementary appearance, Suárez treated fans and media to pace laps around the 1.5-mile oval, demonstrating the skills that have him running in the top 10 in points and second in the Rookie of the Year balloting.

Tickets for the XFINITIY Series Race at Chicagoland Speedway start at just $30 for adults and $5 for kids, while Fan Zone Pit Passes are just $25. A race ticket also includes entry to the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, running on the same day. Tickets can be purchased now at, by calling 888-629-RACE, through the Chicagoland Speedway mobile app, or by visiting the Chicagoland Speedway Administrative office Monday-Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm.

In addition to the XFINITY Series race, the June weekend will welcome back the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards and two nights of TORC: The Off Road Championship Series Presented by Amsoil at Route 66 Raceway.
