New Weekly Motorsports Segment Becomes Part of Chicago Tribune Live

Comcast SportsNet's popular daily sports show, Chicago Tribune Live, has launched a new motorsports segment dedicated to providing fans with in-depth coverage of NASCAR and other motorsports throughout the 2008 racing season. The show has tapped Matthew Alexander, president of Chicagoland Speedway, to be the racing expert and provide an inside look into the world of motorsports when he joins Dave Kaplan (host of Chicago Tribune Live), as well as a panel of other guests, every Thursday night between 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

"Having the opportunity to participate in a weekly motorsports segment during a great show like 'Chicago Tribune Live' is a true indication that NASCAR and motorsports in general has established itself in Chicagoland's sports landscape," said Alexander. "Being able to discuss motorsports on a show like this, gives our rapidly growing motorsports fan base in this area a great forum to get their weekly fix of racing information. With the tremendous growth of motorsports in the Midwest, and Chicago in particular, a weekly motorsports segment on the city's top sports television station will only help take racing to the next level."

Alexander kicked off the 2008 racing season when he joined the show from the garage area of Daytona International Speedway last Thursday, February 14. His segment featured analysis of the new changes made in NASCAR for the upcoming season, a preview of the 50th running of the Daytona 500, as well as an interview with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rookie Dario Franchitti.

"There is a growing interest in motorsports and NASCAR in the Chicago area and we wanted to provide our viewers with a weekly segment on 'Chicago Tribune Live' to showcase this exciting sport," said Joe Riley, Senior News Director for Comcast SportsNet. "We're pleased to have Matthew on CTL every week during the 2008 racing season to share his expertise with our viewers."
