JOLIET, Ill. (March 6, 2018) – The Magnificent Mile and a Half will once again be flooded with visions of Saint Nick on Saturday, December 1, 2018 as Chicagoland Speedway, the Joliet Township High School (JTHS) Alumni Association and the Joliet Area Historical Museum present the Second Annual Santa Celebration. This festive fundraiser will benefit Racing Advocates for Community Enrichment (R.A.C.E.), Chicagoland Speedway’s 501(c)3 charitable entity, the JTHS Alumni Association Scholarships and The Joliet Area Historical Museum.
Santa 5K and 1-Mile Stroll
This year’s event will feature a competitive, timed and scored 5K race as well as a leisurely 1-mile stroll with participants of all ages and ability levels including families, strollers and wheelchairs, welcome to partake.
The course begins and ends within Chicagoland Speedway’s 1.5 mile D-shaped tri-oval. Registration fees, which include an event t-shirt and entrance to Santa’s post-race celebration, are $35 for adults, $25 for students with school ID and $15 for children ages 5-12 until November 15. Participants must register by November 15 to be guaranteed an event t-shirt. The one-mile stroll is $20 per person ages 13 and older while 12 and under are free. Pricing increases on November 16 so be sure to register today! All spectators (non-runners or walkers) 13 and older must purchase entry into the Santa Celebration for $10 at the gate (12 and under are free). Gates open at 8:00 a.m. and the 5K will begin at 9.

Participants are encouraged to don their most festive attire including hats, headbands, beards, ugly sweaters, and/or the event t-shirt. To ensure that participants arrive adorned in event gear, t-shirt and packet pick up will be held at the Joliet Area Historical Museum located at 204 North Ottawa Street in Joliet, November 24-25 and 27-30, Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday noon-5 p.m.
Pictures with Santa in Gatorade Victory Lane
Not a runner? Not a problem. Families can still join Santa Claus for pictures in Gatorade Victory Lane from 10 a.m. to noon and participate in a variety of holiday activities including a craft and pop-up gift store presented by the Joliet Area Historical Museum for only $10 per person (children 12 and under free). All attendees will also be provided a ticket for December Deals & Delights raffle held by the Joliet Area Historical Museum taking place that day.

In addition, R.A.C.E. will host a Toys for Tots Foundation drive in an effort to collect toys for those that are less fortunate in the community. Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys for donation which will be distributed by the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve as Christmas gifts.
Once again, proceeds generated by the Santa Celebration will benefit R.A.C.E. as well as the Joliet Area Historical Museum and the JTHS Alumni Association Scholarships. Since its inception, R.A.C.E. has donated over $300,000 to deserving community organizations and with an aim at improving the quality of life for the greater Chicagoland area while focusing on causes centered on youth, safe driving and the military.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Chicagoland Speedway will take place on July 1 as part of the four-race weekend June 28 – July 1. The weekend will kick off on Thursday, June 28 with the SCOTT® 150 ARCA Racing Series followed by NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Overton’s 225 under the lights on Friday night. On Saturday, June 30, the NASCAR XFINITY Series Overton’s 300 will hit the track as the precursor to Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Overton’s 400 showdown.
