Joliet, Ill. – August 5, 2014 – Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 4 for Stewart-Haas Racing, made his presence felt all over town on Tuesday, as he paid it “4-ward” to the city that will host him in the MyAFibStory.com 400 and Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup on Sunday, Sept. 14.

Harvick’s first stop was at Engine Co. 42 on 55 W. Illinois, where he delivered a complimentary lunch of Jimmy John’s sandwiches for the house of 22 firefighters. “Happy” also braved a ride up in Squad 1’s Snorkel, firefighting apparatus designed to navigate within the close quarters of the city. The Snorkel looks like a typical ladder truck, yet fits into alleys while extending 50 feet vertically and 30 feet horizontally.

For the second act, $4 of every ticket race sold on Tuesday, August 5, to Chicagoland Speedway’s Sept. 12-14 triple-header weekend will benefit the Kevin Harvick Foundation. The Foundation, which was established in 2010 by Kevin and his wife DeLana, works to not only improve the quality of life for underprivileged youth, but also to help children realize their dreams.

The Sprint Cup Series star wasn’t done there, as he travelled to Diversey Driving Range to hit a bucket of balls with fans and compete in a closest-to-the-pin and putting contest. Harvick’s golf game certainly hasn’t suffered during the NASCAR season, as he was all over the green in the closest-to-the-pin contest. Two lucky fans were awarded pace car rides for their efforts as well. In the second portion, Harvick drained his first putt of the day, and was the only contestant to bury the 20-footer.

“We’re excited about coming back to Chicagoland, this has been a great race track for us in the past. I feel like winning the first two races here got us off on the right foot with fans,” said Harvick. “It’s always been a great market for us, and a great market for our sponsor, Jimmy John’s, so we’re looking forward to a great weekend.”
