2012 Daytona 500 Winner Matt Kenseth and Illinois Native Danica Patrick Join All-Star Fan Hospitality Lineup
Kenseth kicks off weekend in Checkered Flag Fan Zone culminating with Patrick and National Guard Driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. on Sunday, Sept. 16
Joliet, Ill. – August 28, 2012 – NASCAR stars Matt Kenseth and Danica Patrick will join fans to kick off the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup weekend Sept. 15-16 at Chicagoland Speedway. Kenseth will appear in Chicagoland Speedway’s Checkered Flag Fan Zone for a question-and-answer session on Saturday, Sept. 15, while Patrick will join the previously announced Dale Earnhardt Jr. on Sunday, Sept. 16.
Kenseth, the Cambridge, Wis. native and 2003 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion, will be interacting with fans before taking the green flag in Sunday’s GEICO 400 – the first race of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Kenseth can clinch his spot in the Chase by finishing 40th or better this Sunday night.
Patrick will be pulling double duty at Chicagoland this September by running in Saturday’s Dollar General 300 Powered by Coca-Cola NASCAR Nationwide Series race, as well as Sunday’s GEICO 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race, one of only ten Sprint Cup Series Races she is competing in this season. She will be joined by nine-time Most Popular Driver Award winner Dale Earnhardt Jr., who is currently third in points and locked up his spot in the Chase last Saturday.
Located just outside the main entrance, the Checkered Flag Fan Zone provides race fans with a unique hospitality opportunity to enhance their race day experience. In addition to behind the scenes driver access and a full buffet meal in a climate-controlled tent with unlimited soda, water and three beer tickets, (must be 21 years of age or older) fans will also have access to self guided pit tours, music, entertainment and prizes. Tickets to the Checkered Flag Fan Zone are as low as $99 on Saturday, September 15 for the NASCAR Nationwide Series Dollar General 300 powered by Coca-Cola, $129 on Sunday, September 16 for the NASCAR Sprint Cup GEICO 400, or special weekend pricing of $199 for both days. The Dollar General 300 powered by Coca-Cola kicks off the weekend of NASCAR racing at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday, September 15 ahead of the start of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup – the GEICO 400 – on Sunday, September 16. Children 12 and younger are admitted FREE with a ticketed adult on Saturday and parking is FREE for both race days.
