NASCAR Drivers and Fans Kick Off Race Day With a Spin Around Chicagoland Speedway on Foot

Before the green flag drops on the race at Chicagoland Speedway®, several NASCAR® stars will get their engines started in a completely different way. They’ll take to the track on foot with thousands of fans during the Coca-Cola Family Track Walk – part of a season-long program designed to encourage active family fun.

Fans can get moving by taking the first lap of the day alongside Denny Hamlin, 1999 Sprint Cup Champion Dale Jarrett and 2000 Sprint Cup Champion Bobby Labonte. The drivers will be on hand to lead the walk, which begins at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 10. Following the walk, fans can enjoy activities for the whole family, including games, music, racing simulators, motivating lifestyle tips and Q&A sessions with drivers. The free event is open to all race ticket and credential holders.

This is the final event in the 2010 Coca-Cola Family Track Walks program. Previous Track Walks have been held at Daytona International Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Richmond International Raceway and Charlotte Motor Speedway. Each of the events provided fun opportunities for fans to get active by offering access to some of the most popular tracks on the circuit, top NASCAR drivers and entertainment for the whole family. In all, more than 16,000 fans have participated in the program.

“Coca-Cola Family Track Walks tap into the passion of NASCAR fans, the energy of the sport, and the uplifting refreshment of Coca-Cola to bring families together for some active fun,” said Caren Pasquale Seckler, Assistant Vice President, Coca-Cola Brand and Trademark Strategy, Coca-Cola North America. “By giving fans and their families exclusive access to walk on a real racetrack where NASCAR drivers will compete later that day, we’re offering them a simple and fun way to celebrate their favorite sport.”

“I love how Coca-Cola Family Track Walks makes getting active exciting and easy for NASCAR fans,” said Jeff Burton, driver of the No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet. “To me, striking a healthy balance is all about the little things in life – staying motivated, making smart choices and spending time with family and friends.”

The Coca-Cola Racing Family is a group of top drivers that includes Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Bobby Labonte, Joey Logano, Ryan Newman, David Ragan, Elliott Sadler, Tony Stewart, and alumni drivers Kyle Petty, Michael Waltrip, Dale Jarrett and Ned Jarrett. Coca-Cola is the Official Sparkling Beverage of NASCAR® and has been involved with stock car racing for more than 40 years.
