Concerts Set for NASCAR Weekend

(Joliet, Ill. – June 10, 2010) –  In addition to all of the exciting action taking place on Chicagoland Speedway’s 1.5-mile oval, the track will also host two concerts for its fans in Champions Park at the Miller Lite Concert Stage during this year’s NASCAR race weekend July 9 – 10.

Things kick off on Friday when Fuel takes to the Miller Lite Concert Stage and performs from 4 – 5 p.m., prior to the Dollar General 300 Powered by Coca-Cola.  On Saturday evening, country music star, Pat Green, is scheduled to perform from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. before the green flag drops for the LifeLock.com 400.  Fans will need to show proof of admission for the weekend (grandstand ticket, Infield ticket, RV campground ticket, etc.) in order to enter Champions Park.

“We’re thrilled to have two great acts like Fuel and Pat Green performing at our facility during NASCAR race weekend this year,” said Craig Rust, president of Chicagoland Speedway. “Being able to team up with Miller Lite and host two concerts our fans can enjoy before the start of our Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series races really adds to the level of entertainment taking place at Chicagoland Speedway throughout the weekend.”

Fuel has sold over 3.5 million albums in the U.S. and scored a trio of top 5 singles, “Shimmer,” “Innocent” and “Hemorrhage (In My Hands”), the latter of which remained at 1 for 12 weeks. The band is primed to pick up where they left off with their latest release, Angels And Devils, with new band members in tow and original lead vocalist, Brett Scallions, back to help add to an already formidable list of achievements.

Green came on to the country music scene with his breakout hit “Wave on Wave” in 2003.  The Texas native’s most recent album, “What I’m For”, begins with a powerful song called “Footsteps of Our Fathers” and is the stirring sound of Green arriving as a major American singer-songwriter who has managed to make his own way in country music and beyond.
