Looking Back:
To recognize the history of the NASCAR Busch Series, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2006, each week we'll take a look back into David Green's 16-year racing history, as it relates to this week's track:
Green trailed Scott Riggs by only two points atop the 2003 Busch Series driver standings heading into the race at Chicagoland. Green finished just outside the top-ten (11th) in the Tropicana Twister 300 that year.
David Green on Chicagoland:
"Chicagoland is absolutely one of the nicest, smoothest tracks we race on all year. It shows and feels its speed every lap, every corner, and with its unique curved back straightaway, it's a racers track with a lot of racing room."
"With all the coil binding going on with the front-ends of the cars, it's going to be a necessity to keep our front tires gripping all day long. We've seen the temperatures go up in Chicago over the last several years, and that just makes it even more difficult to find the grip we need. However, with what we learned this year at Charlotte and at Kentucky with this car, I'm confident and very excited about finishing off what we had going on at those tracks - not to mention our run at Milwaukee, where we knew we had a solid top-five finish going and a shot at the win. I'm very confident with what we have learned in our mile and half-mile program, and (Co-Crew Chief) Stewart (Cooper) does a fantastic job with our cars for all the tracks."
"As Stewart and the guys put our Ford Fusion through practice Friday at Chicagoland, we know have to keep a good balance that allows the front tires to be digging all day. To get and maintain good track position, it's essential to have good fuel mileage and good pit strategy at Chicagoland. We know we're in the second half of our season and now is the time for us to keep digging and put ourselves in a position to fight for wins and make our way into the top-10 in points."
"This is a cool weekend for me too, since my friend Bobby Labonte will be driving Brewco's No. 66 Cub Cadet Ford Fusion and we'll be teammates. I look forward to talking race strategy and car set-up with him throughout practice and our race. We expect to be fighting it out, fender to fender for the win come Saturday afternoon."
