San Diego alternative rock band, Switchfoot, will perform the Miller Lite "Rock 'n Racing" concert at Chicagoland Speedway's Miller Lite Oasis on Saturday, July 8, at approximately 5 p.m. following the USG DUROCK® 300 NASCAR Busch Series race. Admission to the concert is free and open to the general public. Large crowds are expected for the concert, so guests who are not attending the USG DUROCK® 300 are encouraged to arrive before the race ends.

"We are very excited about hosting this year's Rock 'n Racing concert in the Miller Lite Oasis on Saturday evening of NASCAR weekend," said Bob Welch, senior director of marketing and sales for Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway. "This location provides a great opportunity for our fans to come and enjoy a concert after the USG DUROCK® 300, and experience everything the Miller Lite Oasis and Expo Village have to offer during race weekend. Having a band like Switchfoot - who has already released a double platinum album - should help add to the excitement of the weekend and provide great entertainment for our fans."

Switchfoot's roots can be traced back to the beaches of San Diego in the mid-'90s, when John Foreman (vocal, guitar), Tim Foreman (bass) and Chad Butler (drums) connected through surfing. Jerome Fontamillas (guitar and keyboards) joined in September of 2000. Though they competed in national surf championships on weekends and earned product endorsements from equipment companies, the real bond came from a common love of music. They decided to form a band, chose the name Switchfoot (a surfing term), put themselves through months of sweaty garage band workouts, and then hit the road. After just 20 gigs, they signed with re:Think records and released "Legend of Chin" in 1997. They've averaged 150 shows a year ever since, while selling more than 400,000 copies of their first three albums ("Legend of Chin," "New Way to Be Human" and "Learning to Breathe") combined. Switchfoot's album "Beautiful Letdown," which was released in February of 2003, includes two top five singles, "Dare You to Move" and "Meant to Live," and has sold 2.5 million copies (double Platinum), making it the band's fastest-selling record to date.
