ARCA RE/MAX rookie driver Joey Miller earned the pole position for the S-K Hand Tool 200 - and broke a Chicagoland Speedway record - with a qualifying speed of 177.212 mph tonight. Chad Blount held the previous mark at 174.633 mph in 2002.

With his sixth pole of the year, Miller captured the year-long Pork Pole Award. At the end of the season, Miller will receive his "Pork Chopper," a $20,000 Harley Davidson motorcycle, which he says will facilitate some quality father-son cruising time.

"My dad got a little crazy, he had a little bit of a mid-life crisis couple years ago and bought a Harley," Miller said. "He's only rode it once, so maybe next time, we can go out and force him on there again. I'd always stuck to four wheels but I guess I am going to go to two now."

Fellow rookie driver David Ragan also bested Blount's track record with a qualifying speed of 176.298 mph, securing the outside position.

"It was a little bit of guess-work going into qualifying," said Ragan. "We were pretty good in practice, and we basically had exactly what we had in practice so hopefully we will do pretty good tomorrow on race day."

Ragan needed to win the pole today to stay eligible for the "Pork Chopper," trailing Miller with three pole positions to his credit this year.

The S-K Hand Tool ARCA RE/MAX Series races begins at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Chicagoland Speedway.
