WUSN-FM radio (99.5 FM) has announced that it will become the radio home of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series for the Chicago Metro Area. In a multi-year agreement, WUSN adds NASCAR-related programming to the 2005 broadcast schedule. This includes radio broadcasts of 36 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Races between February and November of 2005, as well as daily updates on the NASCAR scene.

WUSN Vice President and General Manager Dave Robbins said, ?Offering live broadcasts of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series racing is a perfect fit for WUSN and provides Chicagoland listeners with unprecedented coverage of America?s fastest growing sport.? Robbins added that ?millions of racing fans now have an FM radio outlet to experience the thrill of NASCAR, live as it happens.?

Programming will start with the Daytona 500 on February 20, 2005, through the final NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Race from Homestead Florida on November 20, 2005. Twenty-six of the races will be broadcast via the Motor Racing Network (MRN), the Voice of NASCAR. "We are excited to add WUSN in Chicago to our ever-growing family of affiliates," said MRN Radio President David Hyatt. "We look forward to providing quality NASCAR programming to their listeners each week. We are proud to be associated with such a first-class organization."

Ten additional races will be broadcast via the Performance Racing Network (PRN). According to John Napolitano, Director of Affiliates for PRN, ?This is a great day for PRN and for NASCAR fans all over Chicago. We are proud to be working with WUSN to bring our award winning coverage of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series to the 3rd largest market in America.?

WUSN has also partnered with the Chicagoland Speedway to become the Official Radio Station of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race that comes to Chicagoland on July 10, 2005. ?We are very excited about the partnership between WUSN and MRN Radio, which will bring NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races, including the race at Chicagoland Speedway, to a much broader audience. An affiliation with a station as reputable as WUSN helps us reach our long-term objective of growing the motorsports fan base in the Midwest and the Chicago Metropolitan area in particular,? said Matthew Alexander, VP/GM of Chicagoland Speedway. ?This agreement allows us to maintain the reputation of partnering with high caliber broadcasters that our fans have come to expect from Chicagoland Speedway.?
