Matsuura Geared Up for Strong Showing at Chicagoland...
The IRL IndyCar? Series? 2004 season is quickly winding down with only three races remaining, and rookie points leader Kosuke Matsuura [Kohs-kay Mat-sur-ah] has repeatedly displayed his potential. Hailing from an all-road racing background, Matsuura broke into the top 10 in only his third appearance in the series with an eighth-place finish in Japan. He captured his career-best result to date four weeks ago with a fourth-place run in Kentucky on the heels of a front-row starting position at Michigan.

Matsuura notched a few more levels on his learning curve after enduring the challenges of the one-mile Nazareth oval two weeks ago. To date, Matsuura?s strength has been on the larger ovals, and he is anxious to improve on his first-year results as the season comes to close beginning with the Delphi Indy 300 at Chicagoland?s 1.5-mile tri-oval this weekend.

? Will be making his 14th IRL IndyCar Series start
? Recorded his career-best finish of fourth four weeks ago in Kentucky
? Recorded his career-best starting position of second at Michigan
? Currently leads the Bombardier Rookie of the Year standings by 43 points
? Best finish on a 1.5-mile oval was fourth at Kentucky
? Best starting position on a 1.5-mile oval was fourth at Japan and Texas
? Currently sits 13th in the championship standings

Kosuke Matsuura, #55 Panasonic ARTA Panoz G Force/Honda/Firestone:
?The last two races on the short ovals were not very good for us but, good or bad, I am still learning a lot from these experiences. I am confident that we will do well in the next three races on the bigger ovals. This will be my first time to run at Chicagoland Speedway, but we have been strong on the 1.5-mile tracks and I had my best race result on a 1.5-mile track. I am going to do my best to work for a top-three finish this weekend.?
