IRL? IndyCar? Series driver and 2004 Indianapolis 500 Champion Buddy Rice will be the special guest for the first-ever Chicagoland Speedway Promotional Karting Grand Prix. This event is being held to promote the upcoming Sunday, September 12 Delphi Indy 300 at Chicagoland Speedway. Only 40 promotional contest winners will be able take part in this exclusive tournament-style karting event on August 30. Each promotional contest winner will be racing to win the "Delphi Indy 300 Experience of a Lifetime", along with several other prizes (see below for prize information). The first place winner of the race will receive an honorary pit crew member position with Buddy Rice during the Sunday, September 12 Delphi Indy 300 at Chicagoland Speedway. In addition to taking part in the Chicagoland Speedway Promotional Karting Grand Prix, each contest winner (and one guest) will also be able to attend a private meet-and-greet with Rahal Letterman Racing?s driver Buddy Rice the morning of the August 30 event.

Race fans interested in entering this exciting contest can do so through www.chicagolandspeedway.com, www.chicagoindoorracing.com or by listening to WUSN, 99.5 FM (Chicago area residents only). This promotional contest will run from August 16-24 and winners will be chosen from a random drawing on Tuesday, August 24 at 5:00 pm (CT). Contestants must be 18 years of age or older. Transportation to the event is not included and schedule and driver are subject to change without notice. (Rules and regulations for contest vary on promotional venue.)

Buddy Rice: 28-year old Buddy Rice hails from Phoenix, AZ and drives the No. 15 Pioneer Argent Honda for Rahal Letterman Racing in the IRL IndyCar Series. Rahal Letterman Racing is owned by retired driver Bobby Rahal and racing aficionado David Letterman. Rice is currently running in his third IRL IndyCar Series season and has three wins (all coming during the 2004 season). After starting on the pole for this year?s 88th running of the historic Indianapolis 500, Rice became the 18th driver in history to have the 500-mile race as his first IndyCar Series career win.

Chicago Indoor Racing: Located in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, minutes away from O?Hare International Airport, Chicago Indoor Racing is the only indoor karting facility of its kind in the Chicago area. It features Stewart?s Bar and Grille, billiards and games, several large corporate meeting rooms, a racing pro shop and a 1,400 foot long indoor karting track with eleven turns. Karting: Karting is an extremely popular form of competitive racing - many professional race car drivers began their career in karting and even still compete in this challenging form of racing today. The Karts are Bowman Race Karts and feature tubular chrome-moly chassis with a Kelgate self adjusting hydraulic disk brake, alloy wheels and slick racing tires. The karts are powered by Honda's state of the art GX200 engine. The engine is unrestricted which allows this 200cc four cycle motor to rev up to a quick 5,500rpm. The karts achieve speeds of 30-35 mph and at just an inch off the ground most drivers experience the sensation of driving up to 70mph.
