- Kahne moves up from 12th to 11th in the NEXTEL Cup Series championship standings entering the Tropicana 400. He is 111 points behind Kevin Harvick and trails leader Jimmie Johnson by 561.

- Entering the race at Chicagoland, Kahne has racked up four second place finishes this season. The last time a Raybestos? Rookie scored more than four second place finishes in his first season was in 2002 when Ryan Newman had five second place finishes. James Hylton, who captured Raybestos? Rookie of the Year honors in 1966, is the only other first-year driver to score four second place finishes.

- Jamie McMurray was the Raybestos? Rookie of the Race in the 2003 Tropicana 400 at Chicagoland Speedway, claiming an eighth place finish.

- Kevin Harvick is the only Raybestos? Rookie to win a race at Chicagoland Speedway. He won the 2001 Tropicana 400 by .649 seconds over Robert Pressley. He is also the only Raybestos? Rookie to lead the most laps in the three races at Chicagoland, holding the top spot five times for 113 laps.

- Two or more Raybestos? Rookies have finished in the top-10 in two of the three races at Chicagoland: Harvick and Kurt Busch (eighth) in 2001, and Ryan Newman (fourth) and Jimmie Johnson (fifth) in 2002. Newman and Johnson are the only TWO first-year drivers to finish in the top-five in the three races at Chicagoland.
